Little Hanoi, Next Generation — a photography exhibition about the second generation of Vietnamese in Czechia
Portraits of the second Vietnamese generation in Czechia. An exhibition about identity, roots, and finding one's own voice between two worlds.
Who are we,
when we are »next«?
The project loosely follows a 2008 photographic series documenting the Vietnamese community in Prague. Eighteen years later, the next generation introduces itself — those who have been growing up between two cultures since childhood.
Štěpánka Stein and Vendy Mlejnská captured more than seventy stylised portraits. The medallion texts were written by Thuy Duong Nguyen Trinh.
“The second generation always has it harder than the first. They didn't choose their lives — they were born into them, and now they have to deal with it. How they're managing, you'll see in this exhibition.” — Hynek Kmoníček, former Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Vietnam
